Strategy Formulation and Execution

Every organization aspires to:
• Perform at the top of their game
• Satisfy every one of their customers
• Grow profitably

With extensive commercial, public sector and military experience at director and board level, my passion is to assist your organization:
• Position itself in the market and formulate and executive your strategy
• Develop your proposition into winning tenders
• Improve team performance to deliver your vision

To win, organizations need a vision, purpose and objectives enshrined in a concise, clear and compelling strategy that is embraced by everyone in the organization.

My approach to formulating strategy is to analyse your services or goods, determine your position in the market, identify a compelling value proposition, and prepare a strategy that embraces relevance, reach, reputation and revenue.
Julian has been formally trained in strategy formulation and execution at the Manchester Business School and the Joint Defence and Army Staff Colleges and he has put this into practice in government and commercial scenarios.

However, as we know, a strategy is only as good as the results delivered by the team and that is why I am passionate about its execution. Only truly high performing teams are able to deliver the Board’s vision.

Performance Improvement

Organizations need to translate strategy into results delivered by high performing teams that increase customers’ satisfaction and enhance the organization’s reputation.

You need an approach to the execution of strategy that focuses on the leadership of teams and team performance by using methods that align the team’s motives and skills with the effects sought by the strategy. As the number of teams, services and geographical spread increase so too does the need for a leadership and performance concept that prepares and empowers teams to deliver the strategy. My approach to executing strategy and leading change is to translate strategy at the Board level into team performance in order to deliver the desired effect, outcome and results. Thus, they will be able to deliver the core attributes of high performing contracts as judged by customers.

Julian is an experienced Performance Director. His drive is to improve team, business and process performance through a coaching programme designed to motivate teams to understand, deliver and celebrate achieving the organization’s goals.
Business Development
To grow profitably, organizations need a coherent business development framework within which is a proven bid management process. It flows from the strategy, value proposition and market positioning, and includes pipeline development, go/no-go decisions, tender management and solutioneering, governance, client presentations, mobilization and operational performance auditing.

Julian has extensive experience as a Business Development Director in large multinational companies in the Services Sector. He has led business development for profitable growth, including large, multi-service, multi-site tenders. He has extensive experience in growing a Public Sector portfolio (he has also operated in and across Central Government Departments). He led his organization’s tender (as a Tier 1 supplier) for the MOD Next Generation Estates Contracts to deliver Facility Management services across 400 sites and the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) Framework tender (securing wins on Lots 1 and 3, the former by creating the CCS’s only Joint Venture) and led the sales team to win a first tranche CCS call off contract in healthcare.

He is passionate about growing a portfolio and raising operational performance in order to ensure that clients receive real value for money and are satisfied with service performance.
